History

At Seal Primary Academy, we strive to inspire pupils’ enjoyment of and curiosity about the past; to provide opportunities for them to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, examine sources, sift arguments, consider consequences and develop perspective and opinions. We believe that by promoting these skills, the knowledge gained will be more deeply embedded and valued.

Through the teaching of History, we endeavour to teach children to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change (particularly within the local area), the diversity of societies and beliefs, the nature of legacy- of others’ as well as their own, and to develop a sense of their own identity and the challenges of the current period.
