Safeguarding Leads at Seal

The safeguarding of all the children in our school has the highest priority and is a key responsibility of all members of staff.

We ensure all staff have child protection training annually. Any concern, no matter how small, should be reported to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (the Headteacher, or Deputy DSL in their absence).

Small concerns may be the final piece of a bigger jigsaw which results in further involvement from Social Services or other agencies and therefore should not be ignored. If you have any concerns about an individual or family, please do the following:

  • Write your concerns down on CPOMS and report to a DSL or use a yellow 'Cause for Concern' form. These can be found in the staffroom. Ask the office if you need an extra copy.
  • Write factually what your concern is, ensuring that you do not make any assumptions. Write only what you know to be factually correct.
  • Pass the Cause for Concern form to one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads who will then advise you of the next steps.
  • Details should be kept confidential, unless you are asked to share them.
  • Please do not discuss child protection issues with other members of staff in public or in public areas around the school.
  • Do not wait until later to make your report time could be crucial even if you think it's a small concern.
Report any concerns to Mrs M Lovejoy, Mr M Shaw, Miss L Brighten, Mrs S Pinnington or Miss H Pownall. If you cannot find these staff please ask for them at The Welcome Office.

Our Chair of Governors is Mr Andrew Jenkins.

Mr Jenkins also leads Safeguarding on behalf of our Governors. Part of Mr Jenkins' role is to challenge our procedures and policies, ensuring that we are effectively safeguarding all of our pupils.

At School, we have a Single Central Record (SCR) to ensure all staff and volunteers have the required checks and certificates. Our Single Central Record Manager is Mrs Bradburn. She keeps this record updated and ensures all of the  necessary qualifications and documents are in place.

If you or a child is in immediate danger, phone the Police on 999.
